Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are excited to be able to offer your child the opportunity to learn and explore in the great outdoors at ALP Lodge. To ensure your child can participate comfortably and safely in all weather conditions, it is important that they come prepared with appropriate clothing.
Please ensure your child is dressed in the following on Lodge days:
For Cold/Wet Weather:
- Waterproof jacket/warm coat
- Warm layers (e.g., a long-sleeved top, fleece, or jumper)
- Hat, gloves, and scarf
- Sturdy waterproof boots or wellingtons
For Warmer Weather:
- Lightweight, long-sleeved top (to protect against scratches and insects)
- Lightweight trousers/leggings
- Sun hat and sunscreen
- Sturdy closed-toe shoes or trainers
- Swimwear. a towel and sliders or croc shoes for outdoor pool
Forest School Lodge sessions will go ahead rain or shine, so being prepared for all conditions is essential and it is advisable to have spare clothing all year round as conditions can be muddy.
If you have any questions or concerns about the clothing requirements or need assistance sourcing items, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your support in ensuring your child can make the most of this wonderful learning opportunity.
Kindest Regards
The Lodge Team
Poem: What to wear to the Lodge
When you’re off to Forest School,
Dress the part, it’s nature’s rule!
Layer up from head to toe,
Here’s what you need before you go:
A waterproof coat to keep you dry,
For rain might tumble from the sky.
A cozy fleece to keep you warm,
It’s chilly out there, even in the storm!
Trousers sturdy, not too thin,
To keep out scratches on your skin.
Wellies or boots, strong and snug,
To stomp through mud or cross a slug!
A hat and gloves for wintry chills,
And thermal socks to climb the hills.
For sunny days, a sun hat’s best,
And sunscreen on to shield your chest.
Pack a spare, just in case,
Forest School’s a muddy place!
Rain or shine, we’re set to play,
Dress up right, we’ll save the day!
